Kolahun Country Cloth Makers
Tours
in Kolahun, Lofa County
Kolahun is one of the homes of the Liberian country cloth produced from homegrown Liberian cotton. A stroll around Kolahun will lead visitors to discover women at their wheels plaiting a variety of beautiful designs. The cotton trees are planted and cultivated by the women, who transform the cotton into threads for their handmade looms. Dyes are made from leaves, tree skin, trees and kola nut. The original cloth never fades. Other forms of the country cloth are available using threads; however, these are beautiful for many beautiful designs from home to apparel. You can buy direct from the women, who are eager to sell their hand-made productions. Visitors can also take a stab at making their own cloth on the looms.
