Waves for Change

The Waves for Change is raising a new generation of Harper sliders, young children between the agest of 9 – 16. The therapeutic surfing deals with behavioral change of young children through its is mental health and psychosocial counseling using a 9-step program. The 9-step program trains them on how to ride the board, after which they are allowed to get on the sea and surf. The program began in 2017 and is accredited through the Ministry of Youth and Sports. For visitors, boards are available with a donation, if they choose to give one. The point break is perfect for training paddling. Professionals can enjoy surfing an amazing area near the Hoffman River. One hundred and fifty kids have graduated from the program in Harper so far. The staff includes four females and seven males.
